I’m starting this blog with a disclaimer – I know Delma and go to her fabulous day spa…a lot. But I wouldn’t want you to think I’m biased so I did some research. At the time of writing this, Trip Adviser has Aroma Spa Retreat rated with 4 1/2 stars out of 5, and is ranked number 1 day spa in Sanur. And I completely understand why.
I usually go for the foot reflexology which is the best I’ve had anywhere, not just in Bali. I was instantly relaxed when I went into the dedicated reflexology/pedicure/manicure area , look at the photo and you can see why! What follows is over an hour of bliss as pressure points are massaged and then…well I fell asleep and woke up just as heat packs were being placed on my feet and shoulders. I left feeling like I was walking on clouds.
This week I treated myself to a body scrub and facial. After 3 weeks of travelling between hot and cold climates and about 60 hours on planes, my skin was much like a rhino’s – tough and dry and in need of a serious mud bath! But a coconut and Fiji oil body scrub seemed like a better option. For me it’s the little things that make all the difference and I love going into my own private room that smells divine, laying down on the massage table and seeing a bowl of beautiful flowers – so much nicer than staring at the floor. The scrub covered my whole body and in my opinion nothing gets rid of dry skin and plane puffiness like it. I would highly recommend starting your holiday in Bali with this treatment, or if like me Bali is home or a stop after long flights, this will beat jet-lag and what I’m calling ‘travellers skin’.
Then my facial. I’m 40. I have wrinkles and lines from laughing and smiling. And after days spent in skin-drying airports and planes, even my wrinkles had wrinkles. First a deep cleanse and a scrub and steam. Then my therapist got cotton wool buds and removed all the nasties from my skin. I know we don’t talk about this over lunch, but let’s face it, none of us are blemish free, so when I know just how clean my skin is going to be, I’m a happy girl! This is followed by a face and neck massage and then a delicious smelling face mask. While the mask is doing its thing, my therapist gives me an acupressure foot massage. I almost get resentful as the moisturiser goes on because I know it signals the end.
Aroma Spa Retreat gets pampering. And the little details show they love what they do. Oh did I mention the location? No? Well it’s located right on Sanur Beach, set back from the water’s edge and away from the busy part of the beach. So the view as you get pampered is stunning. If you had a day to spend on this part of the beach, I’d be tempted to spend as much of the day as you can at Aroma and then once you are feeling relaxed and refreshed, head just a little walk down the beach to Bamboo Bar for a cocktail and wood-fired pizza.
Aroma Spa Retreat have so many different treatments to choose from, your biggest problem will be deciding how many treatments to have, not what to have. And to help with this, Delma and her fabulous team at Aroma are offering a 15% discount off all treatments when you book online . All you need to do is go to the website (click here) , select your treatments, go through to booking and enter the following code for your 15% discount. I’m happy to help with the process if you like. The code, all lowercase, is: travellist.
